Installing Shield IT

Installation requirements

Microsoft Windows XP, 2000, NT
350 MHz CPU
128 MB RAM
5 MB free disk space
Internet Explorer 6.0 or higher

Although the installation requires less than 5MB of disc space, running the program requires additional disc space.

  1. Click here to download the program.
  2. When the File Download dialog appears, click Save.
  3. When the Save As dialog appears, click the Desktop button, then click Save to save the file to your desktop.
  4. To begin the installation, double-click the file called "shieldit_trial" on your desktop.
  5. Follow the installation instructions.
  6. After the installation is complete, you're ready to run the program.

Running Shield IT

  • If you did not install shortcuts to the program, you can start Shield IT using Windows Explorer. To do so:
    1. Click Start >> Programs >> Accessories>> Windows Explorer.
    2. Navigate to the folder where you installed Shield IT. The default location is C:\Program Files\shieldit.
    3. Double-click the file named "shieldit".
  • The first time Shield IT starts, you need to create a login password for your protection. You can choose the password yourself.
  • The Status panel on the Settings page tells you weather or not the program is recording.
  • Use the Record button to begin recording. Use the Stop button to stop recording.
  • Use the tree view on the left to view log files and screenshots.
  • NOTE: Shield IT can only be uninstalled from the file menu. Shield IT does not appear in Add\Remove Programs.
